(San Bernardino, CA – July 29, 2015) In recognition of SBD International Airport’s rich heritage as a former US Air Force Base, the Airport is hosting the first annual SBD Fest on October 17, 2015. The San Bernardino Airport Authority Commission has approved a spectacular line up of patriotic themed aerial performances taking place twice a day, one show in the morning (11:00am – 12:30pm) and a second show in the late afternoon (4:00 – 5:30pm).

“It’s been over 25 years since the former base conducted annual air shows that created so many fond childhood memories throughout the community,” says Mark Gibbs, Deputy Director of Aviation. “Many of us that grew up in the area eagerly awaited the annual event so we could witness the awe-inspiring formation aerobatic feats performed by jet teams similar to the Patriots Jet Team.”

The SBD Fest event, located adjacent to the (then) newly completed general aviation hangar development and nearly complete Sheriff Aviation complex, will feature:

• A patriotic parachute display by the Just in Time Skydivers,
• Ace Maker’s military T-33 jet performance,
• Julie Clark’s military T-34 performance,
• Helicopter rappelling act,
• Tumbling Bear performance,
• World War II-era aircraft, and
• The Patriots Jet Team.

We are proud of the progress happening at the Airport and are very eager to celebrate the return of the air show, explains Michael Burrows, Executive Director for the San Bernardino International Airport Authority and the Inland Valley Development Agency. “SBD Fest’s patriotic theme recognizes and honors the important role in history the former base served protecting our country and the impact it had on the fabric of the community.”
